When he was laid onto his mother’s lap immediately after birth, I was already amazed at how beautiful he was. He was crying softly, but after a while, just sort of looked around a bit.

Please pardon my photography skills, still pretty rough, especially at post production. I know photos are a bit off topic for a videography blog, and yes, I have sneaked a few moments on my handycam, but as usual, need to edit first, but well, here it is! Now off to see if baby’s sleeping well.

That was how it was yesterday at 7pm. However, when this cute, fragile little boy lands in your arms. Oh my goodness… the relief is so hard to describe.

I’ve been going all over the Internet posting little messages shouting out to the world about this new arrival, there must be a better way to do this. Well, anyway, I brought a tiny videocam into the delivery ward, thinking I could capture something, but I couldnt, my hands were too busy holding Hwei Min’s. I’ve taken some nice photos, however, so do watch out for it!

Had a chance to chat with Eddie and Edna before their big day, and managed to get some
juicy details about their first years together. Eddie and Edna’s romance was very much tied
to Changi Airport, so when it came to thinking about the location to go for a photo shoot,
Changi was the place to go!

Edna was at Emirates, and throughout her stint there, she stayed in Dubai most of the time. So Changi Terminal 1 was the place where Eddie had to see her off every time she had to leave, and those moments where they spent at the cafe must have been excruciatingly bitter sweet.

Like Jazz music, this video was sort of an impromptu tribute to their initial years together.

Actually the real reason is because of the difficulty to find new and suitable songs
for the soundtracks.

Anyway, that is off topic and not what this entry is about. My TOP FEAR about
blogging, and especially blogging about my work is the fact that you can dig out my
very very old stuff. My fear is that I get judged based on my old work.

Ever since I’ve started in this industry, it was always about doing my very best,
but everyone improves over time (hopefully). So I’ve decided to be open about it.

I am now reading a science fiction epic by David Wingrove, Chung Kuo,
and got this profound statement which was quoted from Nietzsche.

In a different context, I guess no artist can create out of more than what
he/she has access to through experience. That is where I need to thank
Hwei Min for giving me access to such unconditional love.

They asked for my mailing address before leaving for their
honeymoon in Greece, and they’ve sent a postcard all the
way from where they were.

I was so touched when I received this from them. *sob*

Now searching for bride’s addresses is especially tough. So
I thought I would share my findings for alternatives to the
website.

Googling “streetdirectory alternative singapore” came up
with a few results from blogs here in Singapore. No point
showing you the whole list of alternatives, they are mainly
derived from Google Maps which still does not have blocks!

I found the service I need from www.StreetDB.com.

Phew…

Due to the complexities in a video project, there are many areas
of value that you may not be aware of. Each of these areas
require some work, and some innovation. Are these areas hype,
or value? Read and hopefully you will be able to decide.

In the first part, let us work backwards from the completed
product that you receive. Let’s look at the cover.

I’ve realised that designing a cover is a niche on its own.
Typically, getting a graphic designer to design a cover costs
from 5 USD/hour to 20 USD/hour, so depending on the
quality, and complexity of the design, you are charged
accordingly.

As for me, I don’t have any qualifications as a designer.
As I’ve mentioned before, I have been trained as a
programmer, and have been working as one for 3 years
before I started as a videographer.

What I do is to search for ideas from sites like cdcovers.cc.
I’ve particularly found a treasure trove of design ideas
from the Criterion Collection, a privately held company that
distributes “authoritative” consumer versions of “important
classic and contemporary films”. (Excerpt from Wikipedia.)

There you have it… my “Secret”.

I strive to come up with something unique for every couple,
but playing with similar themes, because obviously some of
the design ideas that work well for certain genres of film do
not work well for Wedding Videos.

the music I’ve picked for the couple,
the couple’s personal story.
